At Oasis we’re strong believers in the Flinders Horizon Award Program. It is a chance to develop skills, alongside those of your degree, that make you job ready. The more you do, the more points you get. Points = awards. Awards can then be included on your CV/resume as you enter into the workforce. A recent Australian Student Wellbeing Survey by Studiosity found that careers support is popular amongst students wanting greater certainty about their future job prospects.

Whilst it is true that we have our whole lives to develop our personal and professional skillsets (life is a constant lesson), university is a great time to go hard on the personal and professional development stuff as the programs are free, targeted to students and, in many cases, the earlier you start with this stuff, the better. The demonstration of this additional learning shows employers you are mindful of the need for both discipline specific work skills as well as transferable work skills.

With this in mind, we’re keen to showcase Horizon programs on the blog. Timely therefore that Annalise from Horizon just sent through some of their upcoming programs for August and beyond!

Take a moment to browse and see if anything resonates with you. You’ll notice a nice mix of work and personal skills in the listings.

A quick note: Links go to the event pages on CareerHub (login required). All workshops are online on Collaborate via either FLO (Horizon or Careers). Report any broken links to horizon@flinders.edu.au
