IN THE FRAME

International stories of empowerment

A Flinders International and Flinders University Art Museum exhibition project bringing together colourful stories of empowerment from the international student community. Portraits by artist Alex Frayne capture the hopes, dreams, struggles and successes of individuals through the universal language of photography. The exhibition showcases the diverse experiences and perspectives that contribute to a strong, resilient and rich culture.

Alex Frayne is an Adelaide-based artist working in film and photography, primarily shooting in analogue film formats. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Flinders University (1996) and has produced a number of short films, along with feature film Modern Love (2006). More recently his stills photography has earned critical acclaim, notably his Adelaide Noir series and Theatre of Life, Portraits, which have been published into books by Wakefield Press. His work is held in local, national and international collections and is widely exhibited.

Presented for the South Australian Living Artists Festival 2019.
